What to Wear to a Wedding

Hi I'm sarah from the fashion blog Lipstick And Ruffles. Dianna kindly asked me to do a guest blogging post on ideas for what to wear to a Wedding. Personally I like to keep wedding attire classy and stay toward the classic side of dressing. One of the most important things to remember is stay away from clothing that is overly flashy. Since wedding attire can vary depending on the formality of the wedding, I created three different looks:

For casual weddings I like to wear light materials such as chiffon. You are more free to play with patterns and color, Sticking to lighter colors may work best. I chose a flowy patterned dress and orange clutch and the jewelry was kept very minimal.

For semi formal weddings I think it is best to wear a hemline closer to the knee. Cocktail dresses fit this type of wedding. I kept the pattern and bright colors to a minimum, but chose a fun pair of heels.

For Black Tie weddings full length formal dresses are appropriate. Color can still be worn, but make sure it is a sophisticated cut and formal material. This orange color would be best for a spring/summer wedding. Appropriate materials include: silk, satins, and velvet. I would stay away from cotton and any other material that appears casual.
