Whatever DeeDee Wants Revisited: Cinnamon Chip Cookies

I decided that from time to time I am going to revisit some of my old blog posts.
First up is a post on one of my favorite cookie recipes, cinnamon chip cookies. Originally posted here.

  

Cinnamon Chip Cookies
2 1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 package of cinnamon chips

Mix butter, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients. Roll into balls and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly brown.

 After finishing the book Everything Is Illuminated I had to watch the movie.

I can't wait for Jonathan Safran Froer's other book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close turn into a movie.

I am not a huge fan of Jim Carrey's comedys (with the exception of Dumb & Dumber) but I do love him in 

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Truman Show and The Number 23.

Brody's 1st bike

Brody got his first bike this summer!
I had been thinking about getting him a bike for a while and decided I had to get him one when jumped on his cousin Leah's bike and started riding. I had no idea he knew how to ride a bike.

Now this little boy is cruising all over the place.
My favorite place for him to ride is on the basketball court in the backyard. No cars!

Felt Flower Corsage Tutorial

 Earlier this week I showed you how to make felt flowers so that you can make this corsage.
I made them earlier this year with a group of 10 and 11 year old girls from my neighborhood for Mother's Day.
They are really easy and fun to make.
I think they would be fun for other special occasions like birthdays, graduations, etc.

Okay, let's get started.
You will need: felt flowers (I used 3), felt leaves, a small piece of felt, hot glue gun, scissors and ribbon.

Arrange the flowers on the small piece of felt.
Once you have decided on the arrangement add the felt leaf.
Next you will glue the flowers and leaf to the small piece of felt, using a generous amount of glue.
Let dry.

Tip: glue the flowers one at a time so you won't mess up your arrangement.
Once the glue is dry remove the extra felt by cutting around the flowers. Get as close as you can.

You're almost done, now all you need to do is add two pieces of ribbon to the back side of the corsage.

Now you have a fun corsage!

Felt Flower Tutorial

I am going to show you how to make this felt flower corsage but first I have to show you how to make the flowers.
These little flowers are simple to make and can be used for many things.
You will need: felt, scissors and a hot glue gun.

First you will need to cut a felt circle. You can use a CD, a cup or anything else circular for a pattern.
Next cut the circle into a spiral. Begin at the outer edge and work your way to the middle.

 From there you will roll the spiral starting in the middle. Make sure to roll it so the cut edge is lined up and even.
The bottom of the flower should be flat. Glue the end to secure in place.

You can glue small felt leaves on if you like. 

 

From there you can make many things with your felt flower. You can make a flower pin by glueing a pin to the back.

Now that you know how to make felt flowers, I will show you how to make a felt flower corsage soon.

White Vinegar Tips

-Clean mirrors by mixing 1 quart water with 2-3 ounces of white distilled vinegar.

- Get rid of smelly/mildew cloths by soaking them in hot water with 1/4 cup of white distilled vinegar.

-Clean garden fountains by soaking the pump in white distilled vinegar to remove mineral deposits.

Last week I had the chance to visit the new DownEast Home & Clothing store at Jordan Landing here in Utah.
I love shopping at DownEast and always find something every time I'm there. This trip I found the cutest grey skirt!
