I have to say that I am so excited for this Christmas season! I started the holiday decorating early and of course pulled out Christmas pajamas, what is it about holiday clothing and pajamas that I go nuts for? It just adds to the holiday fun I guess. One of my family's favorite things is to stay cuddled up in our pajamas and watch holiday movies, read stories and just spend time together. Brody would stay in his pjs all day if I let him, and sometimes I do.

Fun Gifts from UncommonGoods

I am getting so excited for Christmas this year! One of my favorite things about Christmas is the chance to give gifts to my loved ones. I always love finding fun and unique gifts but sometimes that can be hard. That's where UncommonGoods comes in. Since 1999 they have been selling creative and unique goods.  I also love that at least half of their products are handmade and a good portion of them are made right here in the United States.

I recently got a chance to check out this fun pineapple ukukele from UncommomGoods. Fun right!

Peppermint Bark

 peppermint bark is one of my favorite holiday treats! It's so easy to make and tastes so good!
Check out my step by step instructions on how to make your own peppermint bark. 



Peppermint Bark
by Dee-Dee

1 bag of milk chocolate
1 bag of white chocolate
1 teaspoon of peppermint extract
1 box of peppermint candy canes

Line the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan with parchment paper and set aside.
Crush candy canes and set aside.

Melt milk chocolate in a double boiler.
Guiitard is my favorite brand of chocolate chips.

Stir in peppermint extract.

Poor into 9 x 13 pan and smooth with a spatula.
pour 1 /2 the candy canes on top.
Set in refrigerator to cool.

Once the milk chocolate has cooled, melt white chocolate in a double boiler.

poor white chocolate over the milk chocolate and smooth into an even layer with a spatula.
poor the remaining candy canes over the white chocolate.
Set in refrigerator to cool.

Once the peppermint bark is cool and hard, break into small chunks.
Let the bark sit for 10-20 minutes or until it has reached room temperature and serve.


Makes a great present for neighbors, co workers or friends.

Father's Day Wallets

My niece and I made these paper wallets to hold a gift card for Father's Day.
They are super easy to make. You can make them as simple or as decorative as you want. We opted for a simple style.

Here are the supplies you will need.

paper
scissors
Tape, glue or glue dots
Gift card

Directions
1) Cut a 8 1/2 x 3 1/4 inch strip of paper. Double sided paper looks best.
2) Fold that paper in half so it resembles a wallet.
3) Take the scissors and trim the corners so they are rounded.
4) To make pockets you will cut two 3 7/8 x 1 1/2 inch strips of paper.
5) adhere them the the wallet by placing one on each side of the wallet near the bottom. Make sure to center them. If you would like you can cut them to make them more decorative.
6) Trace your gift card on a piece of paper and cut to use as a gift card.
7)Place the gift card in one pocket and the card in the other.

You may need to adjust your pocket sizes for larger gift cards.

Valentines Breakfast in Bed

I decided to make Travis a little Basket full of bagels and juice for a little 

breakfast in bed on Valentines day.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to make something special. I think it's all in the details.

I could have just put juice and bagels on the kitchen table but by adding the details

it made for a special breakfast.

I think this could also be turned into a fun picnic date. 

Swap the bagels for a few sandwiches, grab a big blanket and head to the park.

Cookie Mix

Travis and I made a bunch of these cookie mixes for a family party last week.
I got the recipe from Bakerella. The recipe is for cowboy cookies.



Of course we opted for red and green M&Ms for Christmas.



Here is a little hint, if you are planning on making these. Make sure to pack everything in as tight as possible. I used the back side of a small measuring cup.
