Blogger's Recipe Roundup- Cut Out Cookies


Molly from My Favorite Things is showing us how to make her cut-out cookies. Don't you think these would be fun to make with your kids for Valentines day?

Bake at 375 for about 8-10 minutes

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups of flour
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cream of tarter
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup milk

Sift together all dry ingredients and set aside.
Cream together shortening and sugar.
Add egg and vanilla and mix well.
Then alternate dry mix and milk until all ingredients combined.
Wrap dough up in plastic wrap and let chill for 2 hours in refrigerator or overnight is fine.
When dough is chilled, sprinkle flour on countertops and dough.
Roll out and cut with whatever shape cookie cutter you desire.
Bake.
Cool and spread with icing and top with sprinkles.

icing ingredients/directions:
1/4 cup butter
2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp milk [add more milk if need to make thinner]
Cream all the ingredients together.
