Mother's Day Badge

Ready to make an easy mother's Day badge with crepe paper?
It only takes about 2 minutes and your kids will have fun making them.

Supplies:
One 42" piece of crepe paper
One 5" piece of crepe paper cut as shown below
One paper circle
Glue Dots®
Marker or pen
Step 1. Start at the end of the 42" crepe paper strip and begin folding small pleats. They should be slightly angled so they fan out as shown below. Make sure to hold the folds tight so they don't come undone. This will form into a circle.
Step 2. While still pinching the pleats in place use your free hand to place a few Glue Dots® (or 1 Large Glue Dot®) in the center of the crepe paper circle.

Step 3. Firmly press your paper circle on the Glue Dots®.
Step 4. Using Glue Dots® attach the 5" crepe paper strip to the back of the badge and attach.

Step 5. Personalize the badge with a marker or pen.

I wrote this blog post while participating on the Glue Dots® Design Team.

Flower's for Mother's Day

Do you buy your mom flowers for Mother's Day? I can't remember the last time I bought my mom flowers or even the last time I received flowers.
I started looking around for Mother's Day plants and flowers and found a big selection at Pro Flowers. Their website has pictures and prices of all the flower arrangements which is a huge plus in my eyes. They also offer a few options of vases for most of the flower arrangements. You gotta love that! oh and Pro Flowers has Sunday flower delivery too, perfect for Mother's Day.
I ordered some really pretty potted roses. They remind me of the flowers at my wedding.
Pro Flowers also has Mother's Day gift ideas other than flowers, they have a great assortment of gourmet gifts and gift baskets.
Their cake pops and cookie bouquets are super cute. Don't you think so?
The only downfall is the shipping, I was going going to order multiple items but was charged shipping for each item even though they were going to the same location. On the bright side you can usually find Pro Flowers coupons here.

What are your favorite flowers?

I was compensated for this post, although all opinions are my own.

Decorating Your Home With DownEast

I am always interested to see how people all over the world decorate their homes. I like the idea of taking some of those concepts and incorporating them in home decor.
Pinterest is always a great home decorating resource. By the way, do you follow me on Pinterest?

I was at DownEast Home & Clothing last week and saw some great home accents.
I love this blue accent table, don't you?
Because DownEast has amazing prices and they always stay current with decor trends
from all over the world it's easy to find pieces to update your home.

I love these leather couches while Brody wanted the two tiered table
(in the front of the picture) he thought it was a cool step stool.
I really liked this galvanized tray.
For those of you who don't live near a DownEast store you can buy it online here.
I also really liked this Aladdin Ottomon.
I love storage pieces, they are so helpful when you don't have a lot of space in your home.

TruShape Body Contouring part 2

How would you like to lose over an inch of fat from your body in about an hour?
Really, you can! TruShape in Salt Lake City  uses new technology to make it happen.
As part of the TruShape Bloggers Panel I have seen it work first hand.

How does it work?
TruShape uses low frequency Ultrasound to basically break down fat cells then the fat is processed through normal pathways through the body (urine) so it's really important to drink lots of water following your treatment.

Next they use RF (Radio Frequency) to smooth and tighten the skin.
Does it hurt?
No. I did not feel any pain at all. During the Ultrasound process you will hear a ringing sound but that is all.

Camille from Make It Work Mom made an awesome video walking you through the whole process. Go check it out.

For more information visit TruShape on Facebook.

You can't pass up this amazing special!

I always love a good book recommendation!

Room Service Printables for Mother's Day

Guest post by Kirsten from Embellish

Being a mom is seriously the hardest job I've ever had, so when Mother's day comes around I use that day to rejuvenate.  Usually, my husband dotes on me with breakfast in bed, back rubs, and keeping the kids occupied while I get some much needed relaxation.  However, some of our hubbies need a little nudging with creativity.  Not mine of course! :)  This is a guy who decoupaged a box with my kids' faces last year for mother's day without any prompting from me.  He was proud, yet embarrassed to give it to me, because he felt it wasn't up to my quality of crafting.  I absolutely LOVED it, nonetheless.  Just love him!  Anyway, for those hubbies that do need some fresh ideas, hand over these printables and let him have some fun with the kids.
Included in this printable set:
  • Room Service for Mom Door Knob Hanger (to be filled out by mom and left on the door)
  • "I love my mom because..." Questionnaire (to be filled out/colored in by the kids)
  • 5x7 inch mother's day note card
The night before mother's day fill out the door knob hanger and leave it out for all to see.
Then, have the kidlets fill in the blanks on this fun mother's day questionnaire about mommy.  It's a riot to see how kids answer the most simple questions.  Hope your mother's day is relaxing and full of giggles and laughter from the kids' participation.

Terrific Tuesday- Organizing for Educational Fun

Hello everyone! My name is Tonii and I blog over at Blue Skies Ahead. I am a wife to one handsome husband, mother of 4 loud and crazy adorable kiddos, lover of crafting and teaching, and perfect at none of it :) My blog is my way of striving to embrace all the little moments with my family...some good and some NOT so good. I am passionate about a lot of things including Family Home Evening, striving to be a little healthier, a fantastic pair of shoes, teaching and enjoying my children and curling up with a great book. I try every day to not only remind my children, but mostly myself, that I can CHOOSE today to be happy and embrace the life I have been given, and that there are ALWAYS blue skies ahead. I am SO excited to be here today, not only sharing some great activities to do with yoru kids...but also a way to cut down on chaos and get a little organized!
One thing I am passionate about is doing fun, educational activities with my kids. It helps me get more involved with them, I love to see them learn something new, and I feel great anytime the screens are OFF and we are spending quality time together.
Theres only one problem with this...it takes a LOT of work to put all these activities together. I have come up with a few ways to simplify and make sure I am making the most of the time I have with my littles :) First, I always try to have a weekly theme, this helps focus me and better plan things for my kids. Some weeks I am SO on top of it, not many...but some :) Other weeks we hardly do anything and thats ok too. That's reality. But instead of being all or nothing, I tried to come up with a way that will really simplify and Cut the Chaos so I can enjoy this time with my kids. Here we go! :)

I put this together last night and am thrilled with it so far! I grabbed a towel holder thing I had laying around in the basement that has 3 spots on it. In the first holder I placed a framed print that says Letter of the Week. Every Sunday night before I go to bed I can quickly use a dry erase marker to write what letter we will be focusing on that upcoming week.

In the bottom holder I placed another framed print that says This week we are learning all about...and then I write our theme for the week.

In the middle spot I place a book that we either have or borrowed from the library that we will read throughout the week that spotlights our theme and reinforces it.
In case anyone is interested, here are the printables I made. It took about 5 seconds to stick them in frames I already had and instantly my kids will know what we are learning for the week and will be reminded every time they sit at the table.

SO simple...right?!
The next part is my favorite though :) There are SO many great educational resources on different websites and blogs, you really can just click and print to provide your kids with fun, themed, educational activities. This takes a little bit of time, but know that I have my system down it is under one hour and I have a weeks full of activities ready to go!
I simply got binders for each of my children. Then I stuck in them a bunch of page protectors. All of the worksheets I print off go in a page protector and the kids use dry erase markers on them. Then when our week is over I just take out the worksheets, file them under the theme of that week, and I have them FOREVER!! Now when my youngest is older and can do the Kindergarten worksheets that my 4 year old is doing this year I will just have to pull them out of my file. Love it! I don't mind the work half as much when I know I will have it forever :)
So here is how I set up my binders:
In the front pocket I place any coloring pages the kids can use throughout the week.

If there are any games, shape sorts, or anything else with small pieces I laminate them and place them in the pencil holder. It takes a little while to laminate them but once again...once you do it you have them forever!!

Every week I print out a tracer page for the letter of the week. Its great practice for the older kids and good for the little ones to become familiar with the alphabet.

Finally I place all the different worksheets in their own page protector to be used again and again!

I know it probably seems like such a little thing, but the amount of Chaos this Cut is amazing!! Now even on those weeks that seem to get away from me, when my kids are bored instead of always turning on the tv they can pull out their binders, color some pages, play some matching game, work on the alphabet etc! And on those rare weeks that I AM on top of things, these binders are a great addition to any fun things we have planned.
Now that we are done with all that organizing...lets get to the FUN part!!
Maybe you want to focus your week on teaching your kids the importance of taking care of those beautiful little smiles
Dental Health Activities
Or maybe you are feeling a little more tropical...and want to do some fun Hawaiian activities with your kids
Homemade Leis
Perhaps your theme of the week is Apples...here are some great apple activities
Whatever your theme of the week is...you are sure to teach your children, create precious memories with them, and rediscover the FUN in being a mom!
Thank you SO much for this opportunity Dee Dee!
I hope you will all stop by Blue Skies Ahead whenever you get the chance. This week we are learning all about flowers and plants with crafts, science experiments and maybe even a yummy treat or two ;)

Other printables in this post can be found at 2 Teaching Mommies or DLTK's Kids

DIY Dinosaur Hoodie Sweatshirt

I posted this tutorial a few months ago over at Me Sew Crazy and want to share it here with you.
Brody has been loving his dinosaur hoodie!
It was really fast and easy to make. Even if you don't have much experience with sewing you will be able to make one.

You will need: 1 hooded sweatshirt, felt, scissors, needle, thread and an iron.

Step 1: Cut the felt into diamond shapes.
I used 13 diamonds (mine are about 2" x 4") for a 3T sweatshirt.

Step 2: Fold the sweatshirt in half down the middle and iron, making sure to leave a visible crease.

Step 3: Lay the sweatshirt flat with the back face up. Place the middle of the felt diamonds next to each other (without overlapping) on the crease.

Step 4: Sew down the middle of the diamonds (I used my sewing machine but you can do this by hand).

Step 5: Fold the diamonds in half to make a triangle. Press with iron.

Step 6: Sew the triangles closed.

If you want the triangles to stay nice and stiff you can use interfacing.
Easy right? Now your kids will think you are the coolest mom around!
