Twins!

During the last 24 hours the word twins has been running through my head constantly. You see yesterday I found out that I am indeed pregnant with twins!

Yesterday I went to my doctor for my first prenatal appointment. My doctor did a quick ultrasound so we could see the baby's heart beat but were surprised to see two heart beats.

Now that the shock has worn off (at least most of it) we are really excited! Of course I have already gone into "planning mode" and already have a few lists of things I need to buy, do, etc.

I want to answer a few questions we have been asked already

- We did NOT have any fertility treatments

- Twins do run in my family (my dad is a twin)

-  We don't know if they are identical or fraternal twins yet although they are most likely fraternal

  1. Congratulations ! I'm a 58 yr. old twin, and I've thanked my Mom every birthday for the gift of being born as a twin. I know it actually wasn't her (but God) although, it was in all ways.
I am a fifteenth generation twin, fraternal. Twins are on both sides of my family , identical and fraternal. As you can tell, I am extremely happy for you and your husband. God's Blessings on you.

  2. How exciting! Congrats! My grandpa is a twin. None of his kids had twins so I wonder if it is going to skip a generation but out of the grandkids married so far nobody has had twins

  4. Congratulations! I am a long time blog stalker and I really enjoy your blog. I usually don't comment, but when I read TWINS I knew I had to. My daughter gave birth to two beautiful twin daughters four weeks ago today. Like you, she did not use fertility and even though we have twins in our line as well, saying that they were shocked is an understatement. They also have one little boy who turned two in May. So, after spending the month of January being overwhelmed and crying many happy tears, she pulled up her big girl pants and carried those babies for 36 weeks. They were born completely healthy @ 6.7# and 6.1#. They are such beautiful blessings to our family already. Best wishes to you as you begin this exciting journey! So happy for your family!

  18. I'm a blog stalker of yours too, and rarely comment! I had to this time, too!! Congratulations!! How very exciting and shocking in all the same moments!!! I have two neices that are fraternal twins. They are both in their 30's now. Each is unique and different in her own special way and they look nothing alike! I wish you much happiness and joy with your two new bundles of joy when the time arrives! - Karen
