Today is a happy happy day!

Travis has the weekend off , a first ever.
We are probably going to see a movie. I haven't seen a movie (in a theatre) in about a year.

Any recommendations? Harry Potter excluded.

The Book Thief

I have a few questions for those of you who have read The Book Thief.



1) What are your thoughts on death as the narrator? Do you like or dislike the narrator?
2) Who is your favorite character and why?


I loved that the narrator was death, I thought it gave the book a very unique perspective.
At first I didn't like how he told you what was going to happen next but then I realized it didn't ruin the book at all, in fact I think it made it better.

I can't decide on a favorite character, but I am leaning towards Rudy.

Easy Ribs

Here are the super easy directions to cooking ribs I posted at The Butcher Block.
I can't take too much credit, my husband (the butcher) taught me how to make them.

I Am

Reading- My old journals. Pretty fun if you ask me.
I am also reading A Girl Named Zippy.

Watching- We have been watching Shrek (all of them) like crazy at my house. It's one of the few shows that Sir Brody likes. It's a good thing Shrek is so funny!

Listening- To Brody grunting as he scoots across the floor . I guess army crawling takes a lot of effort.

Cooking- I have been in a cooking mood lately, I have even tried a few new recipes. Trav has taught me how to make some yummy ribs. Ribs are super easy to make, I will show you how soon.

Looking forward to- Travis taking some time off of work, hopefully it will be soon. I am also looking forward to finishing up my front yard. We (I mean Travis) put grass in and now we just need to add a few pavers to finish it off.

I Want

There are two things I really want from PB Teen right now.
The first is this cute work & relax table. It's just too bad it doesn't come in red to match my living room.



The second thing I want is this display-it storage mirror.
I am not sure where I would put it, but I am sure I could find a place.

8 Months Old

Brody turned 8 months old today!



Brody has learned how to get himself in a seated position.
He is crawling backwards (he hasn't figured out forward yet).
Brody has finally gotten his "Neff squints" but only when he smiles really big.
He loves to clap.
He is always saying "dada".
Brody is turning into a daddy's boy.
He loves to play with his ball.
He loves animals and he squeals when he sees them.
Brody likes to sleep on his tummy.

Mayo or Miracle Whip?

I am a Miracle Whip girl.

Flip Flops

I am a flip flop kind of girl, who isn't though? I even try to get away with wearing them in the winter (at least in the house).
Anyways , here are my thoughts on a few of the flip flops out there.

I love the J.Crew wedges! They are one of my absolute favorite flip flops!


If you are on a budget go for the Old Navy flip flops. At $3.50 you really can't go wrong.


New to me flip flops (thanks Roger and Adrienne) are Flojos. They are about the comfiest sandal ever! They are made out of egg crate foam.

On a side note, I didn't know that Flojos made flip flops. I use to wear these rubber sandals a long time ago. We would get them from the Orange County Swap Meet.
